USHUAIA, ARGENTINA is
as far away from Buenos Aires as you can get and stay in Argentina at just
a tad over 2,000 miles to the south. It is the capital of Tierra Del Fuego
Province and has a population of around 30,000. It overlooks the Beagle
Channel and is the World's southernmost city. In summer it has a lot to
offer the tourist with area tours, horseback riding, sport fishing and
mountain bike. You can cruise the Beagle Channel in catamarans or sailing
boats which will take you to Cape Horn and the Antarctic Continent. If
you prefer dry land there are city tours, the End Of The World Museum,
or ride on the converted convict train. In winter (May to September) there
is nearby skiing either downhill (15 minutes for the city) or cross country.
When you get tired of all that healthy stuff there are bars, restaurants,
a casino and even a disco called Barney's. Then, when you really get tired
there is a large selection of hotels from which to choose.
