CITY DESCRIPTION: LA RIOJA is the capital of the province of the same name. A small city of 110,000 people it is 700 miles by car west northwest of Buenos Aires. Dating from the 16th Century it features a rich past mixing the Spanish and Indians of long ago in its antique architecture. It has a broad and diverse selection of hotels and restaurants, artesian market, and a full range of tourism support services. The bright red soil might remind some folks of Oklahoma!
