CITY DESCRIPTION:EL CALAFATE is a really small village in Santa Cruz Province in the very south of Argentina 1,700 miles south of Buenos Aires. It is about 200 miles west of Rio Gallegos. In the Patagonia, with the Cordilleras of the Andes as a back drop, it is close to the Lago Argentina and the National Glacier Park which features the Perito Moreno Glacier. It is a good base from which to discover the Argentine Patagonia.
