CITY DESCRIPTION:EL BOLSON is a smaller city of 6,000 people about 615 air miles southwest of Buenos Aires on the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains. It is in Rio Negro Province, the same one as Bariloche so that explains things a little. While primarily an agricultural center, albeit a small one, its location, on the Quemquerntreu River and at the foot of Piltiquitron Mountain, makes it a great jumping off place (forgive the pun) or base of operations for skiing, fishing (Trout and Salmon especially) and just seeing some great scenery. It has a nice selection of hotels and cabins, restaurants, even a discotheque for the leisure traveler.
